Applications for the Cambridge – Nanjing Summer School 2025 are now open!
The programme runs from 4 August to 23 August 2025 at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge. Due to high demand, we encourage early applications, as places are limited and reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants will typically receive a decision within 10 working days of submitting a complete application.
Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students worldwide, as well as recent graduates. To apply, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old by the start of the programme
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
- Have completed at least one year of university study before the programme begins
- Demonstrate a high level of English proficiency (see language requirements below)
English Language Requirements
As all courses at the Cambridge – Nanjing Summer School are taught in English, applicants must demonstrate a high level of fluency to fully engage with the academic content.
Accepted Qualifications
If English is not your native language or not the primary language of instruction at your university, you will need to provide evidence of one of the following qualifications:
- IELTS: Minimum 6.5
- TOEFL iBT: Minimum 90
- CET6: Minimum 500 or CET4: Minimum 550
- Cambridge Advanced (CAE): Grade A
- Cambridge Proficiency (CPE): Grade B
Waivers & Alternative Proof of Fluency
If you have studied extensively in English at university level, you may not need to provide a language qualification. In such cases, we may request:
- A university transcript showing significant coursework and assessment in English
- Additional documentation confirming the medium of instruction at your institution
We do not require proof of English proficiency from students attending universities where English is the primary language of instruction.
How to Submit Proof of English Proficiency
All supporting documents should be submitted as part of your online application. If required, you may be asked to provide additional evidence before final admission.
Step-by-Step Application Guide
1.Complete the Online Application
Apply via our official online system. Ensure all required fields are filled out correctly before submission
2.Submit Supporting Documents
Your application will be reviewed once we receive:
- Academic transcript (sent directly from your university or through a secure digital transcript service)
- Proof of English proficiency (if applicable, see “English Language Requirements”)
- Digital photo (passport-style, uploaded during application)
3.Application Review
Once your application and supporting documents are received, they will be evaluated by the Selection Committee.
4.Receive Your Offer & Secure Your Place
If accepted, you will receive an official offer via email. To secure your place: Choose your two academic courses and pay the programme fee.
5.Course Selection & Changes
You can modify your course choices until the course change deadline, subject to availability.
Application Timeline
- Monday, 24 March 2025 – Online applications open
- Friday, 9 May 2025 – Early Application Deadline (application fee waived)
- Friday, 6 June 2025 – Final Application Deadline (£69 non-refundable fee applies)
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and may close earlier if places fill up. To secure a spot, we recommend applying as soon as possible.
Once you have submitted your application, ensure that all supporting documents are received and your place is confirmed before the final deadline.

- Saturday, 9 August 2025 – Arrival Day (students move into Selwyn College)
- Sunday, 10 August 2025 – Orientation & Welcome Events
- Monday, 11 August – Friday, 22 August 2025 – Academic Programme (lectures, supervisions & career talks)
- Friday, 22 August 2025 – Final Examinations
- Saturday, 23 August 2025 – Departure Day (students must vacate rooms by 10:30 AM)
