All non-UK and non-Irish nationals must have the appropriate immigration permission to study in the UK. Participants in the Summer School should enter under the Visitor Route, which allows short-term study for up to six months.

While in the UK under the Visitor Route, you CANNOT:
- Work (paid or unpaid)
- Intern (paid or unpaid)
- Extend your stay beyond the programme
- Engage in business or professional activities
You must show proof of sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay.
Visa Requirements by Nationality

- Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
Your passport will be stamped to confirm visitor status.
2. eGates Nationals
If you are from the EEA, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, or the USA, you can enter via eGates without speaking to an immigration officer.Since eGates do not provide an entry stamp, keep alternative proof of entry, such as:
- A boarding pass
- A printed flight itinerary
3. Visa Nationals
If your country is on the UK visa national list, you must apply for a Visitor Visa before travelling.
- Select "Short-term study (up to 6 months)" as your reason for visiting when applying online.

All students attending the Summer School must arrange comprehensive health and travel insurance before arrival. The programme does not provide insurance coverage, except for Third Party Liability.
Health Insurance
While the UK’s NHS offers emergency treatment, most medical costs—including hospitalisation, prescriptions, and specialist care—are not covered for international visitors. To avoid unexpected expenses, students must have private health insurance covering:
- Emergency medical treatment & hospital care
- Doctor consultations & prescriptions
- Pre-existing conditions
- Pre-existing conditions
If you are studying in another country before arriving, ensure your current policy is valid in the UK.
Travel Insurance
In addition to health insurance, students should have travel insurance covering:
- Trip cancellations or delays
- Lost or damaged baggage
- Emergency medical evacuation
- Unexpected disruptions (e.g. political unrest)
Since health and travel insurance do not overlap, both are required.
Before travelling, understand your policy’s claims process, including whether you need to pay upfront and claim reimbursement later. Keep all necessary documents, as they may be required by immigration or the university.
